Day 7 - Week 1 Recap

Gentleman,  we are approaching the end of week 1. Most likely the excitement and newness of doing this "experiment" have worn off. You're bored.  You've hit your wall. You've fallen or feel like you're going to fall. GOOD. This was never supposed to be easy. You've totally wagged war on Satan's favorite industry and you didn't think he would strike back at you? This is no game. This is a war- for your soul. We have to be men. We have to resolve to keep fighting- to keep up even when we loose motivation.  You might be thinking, "how do I know if I'm doing this right?" Fasting should make your stomach hurt. Study should make your brain hurt. Exercise should hurt your body. Prayer should hurt your time from other activities. Doing acts of charity should hurt your pocket book. LOVE UNTIL IT HURTS!  If you're doing all five every day the result is worldly  discomfort. It's the same with lifting weights- it's the pain of resisting  that makes you stronger. So what can we do better this week? Where have we slacked? What are we going to do about it? 

A huge poster hangs in the kitchen at the deli I work for and it reads: "WHAT EVER IT TAKES". That is truly the customer service philosophy at our restaurant - we will do anything, bend over backwards, go the extra  mile, WHATEVER IT TAKES to make our goal of 100% customer satisfaction. I think "WHATEVER IT TAKES" would a be good motto for any aspect of ones life- especially the spiritual life. ESPECIALLY THE SPIRITUAL LIFE. And especially for this 33 Day Purity Boot Camp. You do remember this is a Boot Camp right? Listen to Christ's "WHATEVER IT TAKES" attitude in Matthew 5:29, "If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell." He's not saying to literally cut your arm off. He's saying don't tiptoe around with sin- do WHATEVER IT TAKES. For it is better that you lose your smartphone, internet, cable, magazine subscription, "friends", than that your whole body be thrown into hell. WHATEVER IT TAKES! For the remainder of this 33 Day Purity Boot Camp have the WHATEVER IT TAKES philosophy.

V. And all his empty promises? 
R. I do. 
V. Do you believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth? 
R. I do. 
V. Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary was crucified, died, and was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father? 
R. I do
V.Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting? 
R. I do.
V. God, the all-powerful Father of our Lord Jesus Christ has given us a new birth by water and the Holy Spirit, and forgiven all our sins. May he also keep us faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ for ever and ever.
