Day 1

33 Day Purity Boot Camp

Day 1

The only word that comes to my mind today is - pain. Excitement takes a close second, but overall- pain. My feet literally hit the floor (running shoes and all)  at 5 a.m.. Painful. I went and exercised. Pain. My goal this morning was to bike at a fast pace without stopping for 20 minutes. I failed miserably - I never realize how out of shape I am. Pain. Secondly, I've been battling a caffeine headache all day...well because... I guess not gorging on Red Bull will do that to you. Pain. I think that both of the pains I felt today are very relatable. I'm starting to see that most of the pain in my life is a result of me choosing comfort rather than labor. I see this parallel even in something as simple as depending on an energy drink for extra "pep" rather than producing it naturally.  The pain I feel from exercise is because I've chosen to be content in letting myself go. I'm not fat by any means- just comfortable- too comfortable. Comfort or complacently causes me pain. Not the throbbing in my head or the pain in my legs, but an unquenchable burn in my heart. The pain from knowing that I'm not the husband my wife needs me to be. Or the man God wants me to be. I wonder how much more God hurts due to His children being content in their walk of faith with Him.

"So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth." Revelation 3:16

Am I hot or am I cold or am I lukewaem? Pick a side: comfortable or courageous.

In adoration I realized why, possibly,  He allows His children to go through pain. Pain is the body's way of saying, "Heyyyyy something isn't right!" Pain is the soul's way of saying, "Stop just existing and start living!"

PRAY:

Come, Holy Spirit, Creator blest, and in our souls take up Thy rest; come with Thy grace and heavenly aid to fill the hearts which Thou hast made.O comforter, to Thee we cry, O heavenly gift of God Most High, O fount of life and fire of love, and sweet anointing from above.Thou in Thy sevenfold gifts are known; Thou, finger of God's hand we own; Thou, promise of the Father, Thou Who dost the tongue with power imbue.Kindle our sense from above, and make our hearts o'erflow with love; with patience firm and virtue high the weakness of our flesh supply.Far from us drive the foe we dread, and grant us Thy peace instead; so shall we not, with Thee for guide, turn from the path of life aside.Oh, may Thy grace on us bestow the Father and the Son to know; and Thee, through endless times confessed, of both the eternal Spirit blest. Now to the Father and the Son, Who rose from death, be glory given, with Thou, O Holy Comforter, henceforth by all in earth and heaven. Amen.
